For those about to rock – Luke salutes you!

One of our four talented Cruinniú na nÓg 2022 Ambassadors, the 17-year-old musician’s star is on the rise as lead guitarist and backing vocalist of alternative rock band Insubs

Now a fifth year student at Templeogue College, Dublin, Luke first started playing five years ago after saving his confirmation money to buy an electric guitar and starting some lessons. “It feels very natural to me when I play guitar, it has become like second nature.”

Since forming Insubs with three of his friends, the quartet has gone from strength to strength and is fresh from a string of recent gigs in Dublin, Kerry and Cork.

Luke’s advice to other young people hoping to explore their own musical creativity? “It’s not as hard as you might think, you should just try it. Even if it sounds terrible the first time you play, keep doing it and it will eventually sound the way you want it to.”

Tallaght quartet – Insubs

“Cruinniú na nÓg is a great, positive opportunity for young people in Ireland to express themselves,” says the budding rock star. “Creativity is a great thing and shouldn’t be wasted.”

You can check out Insub’s creativity in action on Cruinniú na nÓg, June 11th, when they perform live as part of Garageland Galaxyz Music Festival at The National Concert Hall, 11.30am – 3pm.
