Enjoy a fantastic performance from eight young dancers on the theme of “a song from your childhood”. This pre-recorded video is part of a programme led by dancer Tess McGovern, who facilitated the group of pre-selected youths to perform solo—an empowering experience for each of them.
Through this six-week Zoom project, Tess worked with the children (who are from Doolin and Lisdoonvarna) to create movement inspired by past feelings or a special memory. They have channeled their emotions by exploring modern dance moves, improvisational techniques, and contemporary dance. The result is a truly beautiful exhibition of dance and creativity.
The youths’ one-minute solo dance performances, recorded at the magical setting of Lisdoonvarna Community Park, capture the pure essence of a child, their free spirit, and their zest for life. Each performance also includes an interview with the dancer as to why they chose their song.
The film work will be done in collaboration with Damian O Rourke of Cuppa TEA TV, and the video will be available all day on Clare Library YouTube channel and shared on the Creative Ireland Clare Facebook Page on June 12th.
