Backstage Theatre presents ‘Boss Rob’, A Masterclass for Aspiring Artists

  • Performance

This immersive and interactive interdisciplinary experience combines spontaneous theatre, comedy, improv, and a visual arts workshop to playfully arming children aged 7-12 years against mean-spirited critics, as they come to help an old braggart to rediscover the joy in making art.

Are we au fait with Bob Ross? The internet sensation and host of television’s The Joy of Painting? Everyone’s favourite art teacher, with the calm voice, kind eyes, and playful words of inspiration and encouragement? Well, this isn’t him…

Invited to present a ‘masterclass for aspiring artists’, Boss Rob may be surprised when he eventually arrives to discover that those “artists” are… Children?

Created by Darren Yorke, Liam McCarthy, and Duffy Mooney Sheppard, this experience combines spontaneous theatre, comedy, improvisation, and a visual arts workshop in an immersive and interactive performance that playfully arms children aged 7+ against mean-spirited critics, also families welcome.

The notorious artist played by Darren Yorke is persuaded by the event’s organisers, Liam McCarthy and Duffy Mooney Sheppard, to stay for a quick interview, followed by Q&A, and ultimately that art demonstration that expose Boss Rob for who he truly is.

Suitable for children aged 7-12 years, siblings as young as 2 years have participated brilliantly with wonderful feedback from parents.
