Carnival of Collective Joy

  • Performance

Joy and creativity go hand in hand!

Presented in partnership with Carlow Arts Festival and VISUAL, the Carnival of Collective Joy returns for a second year and will be a key event in our Cruinniú celebration.

The carnival will feature dazzling puppets and floats parading through the streets of Carlow Town. These wonderful creations have been made by the pupils in Hacketstown, Rathvilly, Tullow, and Graiguecullen during a series of workshops about design, making, and movement.

This year, Music Generation Carlow, Wexford and Waterford will join the fun, bringing a big brass sound to perform live on the grounds of Carlow College at the conclusion of the carnival.

Prior to the carnival (11.30am-12.30pm), everyone is welcome to join in a workshop that will explore mask and costume making as well as music making. This offers the opportunity for all young people to be part of our exciting carnival parade, even if they have not participated in the school workshops.

Come join us for this fun and colourful event!

Please note: Videography/photography will be taken at this event in order to help us promote the work of Creative Ireland Carlow through local and national media and social media.
