Circus 250 - Youth Circus Day in Ballinfoile
Galway Community Circus is Ireland’s flagship organisation for youth and social circus. Located in the heart of Galway City, their aim is to advance the artistic, personal and social development of young people through the circus arts, which themselves are 250 years old this year.
Through their groundbreaking programmes and high-quality productions, Galway Community Circus has proven itself to be a cradle of artistic excellence and educational innovation in Ireland, working with over 500 young people from diverse backgrounds every week.
Galway Community Circus are setting up in Ballinfoile for Cruinniú na nÓg where they will run workshops for young people from the age of 9 in many of the key circus skills like acrobatics, juggling, tightwire, and stilt-walking. The workshops will be run by four international circus artists who will also give a demonstration of their own abilities with a short performance.
These workshops are fun and non-competitive and need no prior skills or abilities to take part.
There are two sessions with 9 to 12 year olds running from 10.30am to 1pm, and teenagers from 2pm to 4.30pm
