Create Your Own Coat of Arms

Create Your Own Coat Of Arms is a 3 hour long workshop for pre-teens based in Athenry. 

It will be hosted in the Raheen Community Hall, Athenry.   

Activities include Drama Games, Designing, Planning, Drawing, Painting and Collage. 

This project uses the child’s creativity and imagination to strengthen their inner world as they move into a new chapter in their lives (changing to Secondary School). 

Each participant will be guided to create and design their own unique coat of arms on  their own shield. A shield is a symbol of protection, and a coat of arms symbolises identity.  Using creative means to articulate both protection and identity gives the child a tangible  pathway to an intangible resource.

The aim of the workshop is to connect the child to their inner identity by highlighting things that are unique to them. For example, name, hobbies, talents, skills, favourite animal/colour etc. These signature traits define who they are and fosters in them a strong sense of belonging in the world. Knowing their strengths and interests can boost  confidence and enable them to move outward with confidence

This event is free but can only accommodate max 8 young people so booking is required.
