Connemara Crayons will host a Land Art workshop outdoors in the Corribdale Grounds of Oughterard.
These grounds consist of grassy land and a lovely area with trees and paths running through it. The workshop will be a collaborative project where children create an Imaginative Garden. This could have a magical theme, an alien theme, or whatever the children decide on. The workshop will begin with a mindful walk through the area, during which participants will be encouraged to listen and observe colours, shapes, and possible objects and spaces. Following this, there will be a discussion about the theme and the kind of space that can be created.
Children will use environmentally friendly clay and paint cloth with nature-friendly inks for their creations. They can use these materials to make creatures, abstract shapes, and backdrops. At the end of the workshop, all unnatural elements will be removed from the location and can be taken home if desired.
This workshop aims to give children a sense of connection to the area and the environment, showing them that it is a place where they can play and imagine while caring for nature. It will promote their creativity and develop collaborative skills, giving them a sense of empowerment.
