Come and take part in a live online willow lantern-making workshop with artist Caoimhe Dunn! You’ll learn techniques she also uses to create large-scale lanterns, puppets, and props for outdoor spectacles. It’s a perfect, hands-on activity for the whole family!
In the workshop, you will create a willow structure, learning how willow bends and changes with manipulation and soaking. After creating your own unique design, you will cover the lantern in wet-strength tissue and add lights to complete your lantern.
For this two-hour workshop, all you need is access to Zoom, a space to work, and somewhere to soak your willow before the workshop. This project is ideal for a family group to create together and is best suited for young people 8 to 12 years of age, but we would encourage older siblings to get involved too.
To register your family’s interest in this workshop please email email@example.com. Once you book your place, we will arrange a collection point for a materials pack (subject to Covid guidelines) with everything required to create one lantern as well as instructions to prepare for the workshop.
