As part of Dance Ireland’s Pop Up Dance Project, New Moon Dance Company will host a series of workshops led by senior dancers with young people from the community who wouldn’t normally be involved in dance.
The piece of work created will be performed on Cruinniú na nÓg at 11am , this is a free performance and open to all.
New Moon Dance Company will be working in collaboration with Green Spaces for Health (Cork Healthy Cities) and:
Foroige group based in Bishopstown, Cork – We are doing an outreach workshop with approximately 18 ten to twelve year olds. They are part of an after school project programme and are very keen to engage with dance. These children don’t get the opportunity to attend dance classes.
St Mary’s National School . We would love to give these children the opportunity to dance with our senior dancers and share the joy of movement.
The company will be working with eco social artist Ashleigh Ellis through Green Spaces for Health. Ashleigh will share with the young people of New Moon Dance Company her work on plant dyes and eco art.Our young people will utilise these skills in the creation of their costumes for the pop up dance performance at Coal Quay.
