Design a Character from your Favourite Piece of Literature – with Fiona Boniwell

  • Workshop

For Cruinniú na nÓg 2020 Cork County Council is working with a number of craftspeople, artists and like-minded creative people to prepare and undertake features and videos that will be made available online especially for the day on Saturday, June 13th, 2020.

Imagine if you could draw your favourite character from a book? Artist Fiona Boniwell will show you how in a 20 minute tutorial titled ‘Design a Character from your Favourite Piece of Literature’.

In this workshop Sarah will ask you to think about what is involved in illustrating a character for a book by looking at some illustrations of familiar characters. In this workshop you will learn how illustrators design characters, how to research your character before drawing, how to draw a figure, how to reimagine your character rather than simply copy them.

You will need: Paper, Pencils, Erasers, Sharpeners, Rulers/Maths Geometry Set, Colours, Pens and Paints. Join Sarah on the 13th June and you will get an insight into what goes into designing characters for books, comics, games etc.

Ideal for youthful creativity on Cruinniú na nÓg 2020.
