Dragons and Dinosaurs is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) programme, exploring creativity.
It will take place over four weeks in Castlecomer. This project brings together 5th and 6th class pupils from Presentation Convent Castlecomer and Castlecomer Boy’s National School with WIT’s Calmast STEM Engagement Centre, Castlecomer Discovery Park, artist Órla Bates and Castlecomer Library.
Beginning with each school embarking on an educational tour of Castlecomer Discovery Park, learning about the history of the park, biodiversity, climate change, extinction and the fossils discovered there.
Following the tour, students will work with artist Órla Bates and their creative art pieces will be displayed in Castlecomer Library as a local community exhibition.
Participants in the project have been arranged with the schools.
The public are invited to the exhibition at the Castlecomer Library, on display from late June.
