Cork Library and Arts Service as part of the Cruinniú na nÓg programme created an initiative called ‘My Creative Wish’ A child from Scartleigh National School, Cloyne, Co. Cork was one of the winners selected, her wish is to learn about drama and theatre. So, beginning on the 09th of May Elaine Lombard who is a drama facilitator, will deliver six drama workshops to the child and her class.
Over the six workshops the children will experience drama games, mime, movement through music, drama scenes, poetry, improvisation, musical drama, speech exercises and puppetry. Each activity will be accompanied by thematic background music which will aid imagination and enhance atmosphere. The outcome of the workshops will give the children a love and interest in drama, personal, social and emotional development, creative skills, and a new confidence in expression.
On the 15th June the class will present a drama showcase in the school where they will display what they have learned in a fun and imaginative way with suggestion of costume, props and music. This will be a wonderful experience for the children and the wider school community.
