Take a walk and play hide and seek with leprechauns at five family-friendly Roscommon walking trails!
Leprechauns love playing hide and seek with each other. The only thing is, they are not that good at it! They will be hiding on tree trunks, stone walls, or their own swings—so keep your eyes peeled. Will you be able to find them?
We all know that leprechauns love gold, so you’ll want to look out for a trail of gold-coloured stones. It could be a giveaway to where they are hiding. You can make your own gold-coloured stone and bring it as a gift to one of the leprechauns, too.

These large leprechuans are 40 cm tall and made from pure wool. They’ve been crafted by Franziska Lienberger, of Felt Fairies specially for Cruinniú na nÓg Roscommon. They’ll be playing hide and seek for the summer!
The walking trails where you can discover the leprechauns are Mote Park, Cloonlarge Walk, Knockcranny Woods, Castlerea Demesne, and Monksland Walk. These are all family-friendly and have been selected from the Roscommon Walks & Cycleways booklet.
