Human Loom

  • Workshop

Human Loom is an immersive and active workshop that will take place on the 15th of June in Rua Red, Tallaght. This creative workshop is designed for children aged 5-12 and their adults with a duration of 2h. The interactive gathering will allow children to engage in a hands-on weaving project, while also exploring storytelling, movement, writing and drawing. – intro to weaving, sewing and lacing promoting intergenerational exchange, participants will be invited to select a piece of fabric where they’ll have the opportunity to inscribe their thoughts or drawings using fabric markers, yarns, beads and buttons.

The storytelling and visual arts will be the starting point of the workshop with the Illustrator and lead artist, Debora sharing the story of a girl who has always carried her Lupa (magnifying glasses) around. Her world was filled with curiosity, a trait she inherited from the memory of her grandfather. However because he’s no longer there, she must reluctantly find ways to rediscover what she thought she had lost. Collaboratively this narrative will spark a discussion about loss, discovery, and the wisdom we gain from different generations. It’s a celebration of shared learning across the ages!
