Widely regarded as one of the most popular creative platforms for teenagers in Ireland, Junk Kouture has been inspiring young people and exciting audiences for the past 11 years. The creative community which challenges students to design couture fashion from recycled materials has become a mainstay in schools throughout Ireland and this year is no different.
The 2021 programme has seen Junk Kouture embrace the digital world, having hosted its first ever televised Grand Final in February as well as plotting its global expansion, launching in five new countries from September 2021.
With the 2021 programme entering its latter stages, as part of Cruinniú na nÓg, Junk Kouture will hold two events this June:
- An online workshop focusing on taking part in Junk Kouture in advance of the 2022 launch in September where attendees will learn from past contestants on how to create a showstopping wearable design out of junk!
- A special live session with one of the prize-winners from Junk Kouture 2020 – where the design team will discuss their inspiration, design process and being crowned the overall winner of Junk Kouture 2020. This will an in-person live event and also covered on the Junk Kouture Instagram. Location to be announced!
