Keen to be Green – exploring environmental adventures through drama!

  • Workshop

Through the story of Gloomy Isle and Happy Isle, two islands with starkly contrasting approaches to environmental care, children embark on a fictional journey to delve into the intricacies of environmental challenges and solutions. Children become the Green Team and set up offices for the pollution police, the wildlife workers, the waste watchers and the happy isle farmers.

Taking on the roles of inhabitants and members of the green team of Happy Isle, children are empowered to engage in the vital task of restoring an island that needs their expertise! But what if the locals object! What if the mayor of Gloomy Isle wants them to mind their own business!!

This workshop integrates construction (utilising recycled materials and industry off-cuts to build the drama space) movement, and visual art through the medium of drama. By merging creative expression with hands-on activities, participants not only deepen their understanding of environmental issues but also develop practical skills to effect meaningful change, all the while having lots of fun!
