Kids Gardening Workshop

  • Climate Change

To celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg, Kilmovee Community Centre will offer an online kids garden workshop with a variety of simple, fun activities to encourage children to get into the outdoor environment and engage with nature in creative ways. The activities will also help children develop a deeper understanding of nature and foster a sense of custodianship. Many of the activities will focus on upcycling to help encourage children to think about reusing everyday materials that they might not have considered useful.

The workshop will consist of a variety of simple activities and experiments, which can be easily followed and replicated at home including:

  • Upcycled wind chimes
  • Butterfly puddle
  • Watching seeds sprout
  • Upcycled welly planters
  • Colour-changing flowers
  • Rock painting
  • Growing from kitchen scraps
  • Making a bird feeder
  • Making a fairy garden
  • Making a bug hotel

Basic garden, household materials, and tools required:

  • Gardening aprons
  • Compost
  • Flower pots
  • Seeds for planting
  • Bird seed
  • Food colouring
  • Gardening tools

The workshop will be pre-recorded and made available on our social media pages
