Cruinniú na nÓg celebrates the first Kildare Town Community School Visual Art Award, supported by Kildare Town Library.
A young artist will walk away with a cash prize of €1,000 and the opportunity to work with Kildare-based artist Vera McEvoy on a glass Commemorative Trophy. The body of his/her work will be on display in Kildare Library throughout the months of July and August. The independent judging team has the difficult decision to select a winner, based on a portfolio produced by 6th Year students at Kildare Town Community School this year.
The generous bursary is the first of its kind to be awarded at the school and came about through a strong partnership between Kildare County Council Library & Art Services and the Community School. Both the Library and the School are looking forward to strengthening ties through new partnerships and programmes over the coming years.
The sponsor wishes to remain anonymous and aims only to improve and promote education and the arts.
The spirit of this award is to help advance a young person aspiring to 3rd level education and the money will go towards financing the initial costs of setting up as a new-fledged student.
The winner will be announced on Arts in Co Kildare Facebook at 10am on Saturday 12th June 2021 as part of Kildare’s Cruinniú na nÓg programme.
