This video work produced by filmmaker & visual artist, Michael Fortune is a creative exploration, interpretation and reflection by 25 children and young people (ages 8-18) from across Laois on their sense of place using the mediums of dance, theatre and music as well as discovering their sense of place in relation to biodiversity and their sense of place and relationship with their local library in this time of social distancing and isolation.
Leading the sense of place project are:
Alex Rosiak, working with young people from Laois Youth Theatre to create a video journey mapping physical and emotional spaces.
Barbara Sullivan on behalf of the Irish Wildlife Trust Laois/ Offaly Branch investigates with children how nature roots us in the landscape and is a key element of our sense of place.
With broadcaster and filmmaker Ann Marie Kelly, members of Laois County Library Service tell us how libraries for them are a hub of creativity, learning and communication.
Erica Borges, is working with young people from Laois Youth Dance Ensemble in developing creativity and dance skills.
Tutors Dale McKay and Sarah Troy from Music Generation Laois (MGL) explore with young musicians the places around them and incorporate the sounds of that place into
