Light the Way Photography & Ceramic Workshop – Ballyvourney

  • Workshop

A gathering of the young people like Cruinniú na nÓg provides a great opportunity to encourage children to immerse themselves in their local heritage and culture. These workshops aim to creates something to light the way forward in a time when technology can distract their young minds from expressing themselves through sensory means.

Ann Burns will host two separate, two-hour creative workshops, each comprising of two parts. These will be a mixture of photography and ceramics (Both workshops will be identical).

With the summer solstice following shortly after the workshop date, Ann will help the children to create a red earthenware night light or night torch to light the way for the longest evening of the year.

The initial design for the project will be based on photographs taken and drawings made by the children from references available to them at the library followed by the creation of the earthenware pieces. They pieces will be fired after the workshop has been completed for collection by the children a week later. The work will not need to be glazed, only fired.
