Imagine if your future body was part machine, part human, part mushroom and part butterfly, what could you do?!
Inspired by a new artwork by Barbara Knezevic, you are invited to join workshops at VISUAL where we will explore how we are connected to the natural world.
We will think about the animals we love to spend time with (our companion species) and how we are interconnected with other organisms like plants, insects, animals, bacteria, and lichens. We will think about science fiction and how humans might evolve and change in the future, could we become hybrid creatures or even cyborgs?
Workshops will take place at VISUAL on June 12th and children can participate in family pods (of up to 6 people).
Workshops will last 1 hour and children will make cyanotype prints on fabric. Cyanotype is a photographic process that produces a beautiful blue image when exposed to light. Workshops will also include foraging and collage. The cyanotype prints made during the workshops will be sewn together to make a shelter that can be used for all our public workshops this Summer at VISUAL.
Workshops will take place hourly from 10:00 – 17:00 and places are extremely limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
Visit https://www.visualcarlow.ie/ to make a booking.
For children who cannot join an in-person workshop, VISUAL will provide free cyanotype kits to make your own prints at home. A limited number of kits will be available to collect from reception at VISUAL from the 12th June
