Mapping Nature Through Senses, Art and Poetry

  • Workshop

Oh, I found a feather!

What colour is the feather? What does it feel like? What does it smell like? What kind of bird might it come from? Can you mimic the sound of the bird?

Poet Heather Brett and visual artist Kim Doherty will lead an outdoor workshop for children aged 7-12 in Ballybay Town Park, where they will harness the power of nature to inspire curiosity and improve their mental and physical well-being.

The children will record their experience through nature and art using sound maps, touch boxes, visual maps and poetry to describe their journey. A discussion and visual charts will be used to name some of the things they discover on their walk.

This nature-based workshop on play and discovery will engage children’s senses to explore the world around them in the context of nature and art.

All materials will be provided. Dress for all weather.
