Marine Murals

  • Climate Change

Learn about the incredible biodiversity of the sea and shore in Donegal, while creating eye-catching murals about sea life from plastic that has been collected from beach cleans in the area.

This event consists of two parts:
· Wednesday 8 June at 4pm: Beach Clean at Port Arthur Beach in the Gaoth Dobhair and Machaire Rabhartaigh area.
· Saturday 11 June 10am–3pm: Art Workshop
at Magheroarty Community Centre .

The art workshop will be hosted by a local artist and two marine biologists. They will share knowledge of the marine biodiversity in the area, and encourage the children to create underwater scenes and images of animals found in the ocean, using the plastic removed from our coastline.

This project ties together many things through fun activities that provide an opportunity for expression and creativity – learning about ocean life, celebrating our local marine heritage and instilling a sense of pride and responsibility for the marine biodiversity of our home area.
