Miss Mousie's Ball
27 Pearse Street
Miss Mousie’s Ball is a one-day workshop introducing children aged 8 to 10 years to the many wonders of Irish traditional and folk songs, providing unique and valuable music education for young people, as well as the handing down of old songs, a vital stage in the survival of traditional music, song and heritage.
This workshop in particular is aimed at children living in Pearse Street, Ringsend and the broader South Docks region, who will learn local repertoire such as Fall Down Billy O’Shea, the story of a group of Dublin young lads who fall asleep on John Rogerson’s Quay and wake up on board a ship in the middle of the ocean. They will also learn Johnny Doyle, the story of a woman from Ringsend who disguises herself as a man to sail aboard a pirate boat and find her sailor husband.
