Create & Participate: Submit your Next-Gen Animation

The theme for Nenagh Children’s Film Festival 2022 is ‘Create and Participate’. The festival began with a series of outreach projects earlier in the year and culminates with a blended festival weekend comprising in-person and online events on June 10th – 12th, with Cruinniú na nÓg at its heart.

Children from across Ireland and around the globe are being invited to submit their Next-Gen Animation creations to the third annual Nenagh Children’s Film Festival!

Whether it’s stop motion, hand-drawn, computer-generated, clay, sand or flip-book animation, entrants can use their imagination to create a piece which is no longer than five minutes, and could eventually be showcased at the festival.

Submit your creations here.

Deadline Thursday, 12th May 2022.

Nenagh Children’s Film Festival was established to support film and filmmakers who create work for young audiences. As an international festival, films from all over the world are welcomed, from professionals and students alike.

Early in 2022, Young Irish Film Makers was commissioned to work with ten schools and organisations throughout Ireland, helping children to learn filmmaking skills such as storyboarding, shooting and editing. These newly created short films will subsequently be screened during the festival weekend, giving the children a sense of creative accomplishment and pride.

A six-month creative residency for a recent animation graduate provides space, time and funds to create a new piece of animation dedicated to young audiences, which will also be screened during Cruinniú na nÓg. This investment into the animation sector nurtures regional talent and expands the opportunities for the  development of animation in Ireland.
