Not so silent short films with the Irish Chamber Orchestra Youth Orchestra are being held on Saturday 11th June 2022. Tickle your ribs at this screening of classic masterpieces of the silent era set to music by the Irish Chamber Orchestra Youth Orchestra. Spanning over 100 years of cinema, we present the two heritage comedies with a new short made by a teenage filmmaker from the UK to celebrate the joyful endurance of silent film.
The Irish Chamber Orchestra (ICO) offers opportunities for children to enrich and empower their lives through collaboration, innovation and education. The newly established ICO Youth Orchestra has emerged from direct funding from the Creative Ireland Programme, part of a new National Creativity Fund. This new string orchestra is entirely free of cost for children aged 12-18 years. It focuses on orchestral participation and performance, as well as small chamber music groups with individual lessons boosting confidence and skills. This enables them to perform and grow as musicians while at the same time, broaden access to arts and culture within local communities.
