Our House – Stained Glass Mosaic Project

  • Workshop

A stained-glass mosaic project with children attending after-school care with Sligo Springboard Family Support Service at Racecourse View, Cranmore, Sligo. Sligo Springboard Family Support Service is a not-for-profit organisation established in 1996 in Cranmore and formerly known as Resource House Project. In 2004 The Cranmore Regeneration Project was established by Sligo Borough Council and the RAPID Area Implementation Team. The children have previously attended Early Learning and Care, many of their parents have grown up attending services here also. By the time they attend school age care they have a strong sense of belonging.

The stained-glass project, facilitated by artist Colette Langan, will run for a series of workshops. Beginning by choosing a theme, drawing, and colouring to build on their ideas, the children will work on the mosaic guided by Collette to complete over several weeks. Each child can add their name to a piece, that when fired, will personalise the larger mosaic for the enthusiastic participants. Each child will also make a small hanging decoration that will then be fired and they take home and keep as a memento of the project. The project will culminate in the finished large mosiac being framed and hung in a window beside the entrance door the children use daily. It will be displayed as a timeless reminder of Cruinniú na nÓg 2022

There are two workshops on the day
