Always wanted to try pottery? Why not give it a go at Bundoran Library on Ireland’s national day of free creativity for children.
With two portable potter’s wheels ready on the day, we will be using plastic clay to do some hand modelling with. We will also have some dry stock pots for the children to decorate with various colours of decorating slip while waiting for their turn on the potter’s wheel.
Master of the craft, David from Tiger Ceramics, Ballyshannon, and his assistant Chanelle, who is one of the main decorators, will both be on hand to give advice, tips and help with decorating the pots.
The pots will need a further week to go through the glazing and firing process in the kiln at David and Chanelle’s workshop, so the final pieces can be collected the following week from the library.
This promises to be a fun event for kids looking to try something new and creative with loads of advice and tips on the day for any budding potters.
Two workshops will take place:
- 10.30am – 12pm
- 12.30pm – 2pm
This event is most suitable for children 7+
Please note: This is a public event and a photographer will be present for part of the session. Attendees will be asked to sign in and grant consent for photographs to be taken. If you would prefer not to have you or your child’s photograph taken, please make the photographer aware of this.
