Co-presented with Dunamaise Arts Centre, visual artist Caroline Keane leads a paper craft workshop inspired by the theme of sense of place. Caroline will show children 7yrs+ how to make a foldable paper house using easily accessible materials found in an average household.
This paper craft will be a fold out space with 4 rooms where you can:
Recreate your favourite outdoor place; recreate your favourite indoor place; create an imaginary place; and the final room is a space to place your favourite ‘memory of quarantine’ so far.
For each of the 4 rooms, you will design and decorate using different mediums including, printing, water colours, colour transfer and drawing.
Your 4 rooms can be simply created from materials found in your home; paper, markers, paint, chalk, crayons and pencils, tinfoil, water, scissors, tape or glue.
Leading up to the workshop, Caroline will share Facebook and Instagram stories and introduce children to images of place, thoughts on place and examples of place, as well as instructions on what materials are required so as to be well prepared for the workshop. There will also be an optional template available to download adapted for younger ages for the trickier elements of the foldable house.
This event can only be accessed on the link below at the specified time.
