Schools Project: Creative Writing Workshops with author, Eve McDonnell
Children’s author, Eve McDonnell, will facilitate a series of fun and interactive workshops with students from Crinkill NS, Daingean NS and Scoil Bhríde Clara.
The character Piaf in Eve’s novel, The Chestnut Roaster has an amazing ability – a super-power, even! She can remember every event back to the moment she was born. This remarkable gift is not just make-believe – it is a super-rare condition known as hyperthymesia. In these workshops, the children will focus on the best memories their minds have to offer!
Eve introduces fantastic fun facts about how our memories work before the children scribble down some of their best and oldest memories. These memoires will be shaped into short-stories, poems and art, and the children will also design a collective ‘wishprint’ of new memories yet to be made.
The poems, stories and illustrations created by the children will be collated into a stunning booklet with each child receiving their own copy on Cruinniú na nÓg.
A memorable day creating a treasure for the future.
