Sculptural Fence Project for Community Garden

  • Workshop

This project will see members of the Newcastle Lyons Development Trust (NLDT) work with members of Newcastle Youth Club to create a sculptural addition to their recently installed Community Garden.  Over the course of 6 sessions, youth club members will collaborate with NLDT on the design of a sculptural fence. The sessions will be facilitated by a local art teacher and will be done in a hands-on, practical way with sessions on design, colour and pattern. The young people will get to create , to scale, sample sections of the fence and experiment with size, texture and colour. They will also have the opportunity to play with pattern or experiment with a personal design.

On 15th June the local community will be invited to the official unveiling  of the sculpture, there will be a celebration with a bar-b que and outdoor games marking the results of the collaboration between Newcastle Youth Club and Newcastle Lyons Development Trust.
