Seomra Traidisiúnta

  • Workshop

Seomra Traidisiúnta is an immersive, creative programme for children and young people under the expert guidance of traditional singer & folklore collector Rachel Uí Fhaoláin (Ceol Mo Chroí) and digital storyteller John Ó Faoláin (Traditional Archive Channel).
In the weeks leading up to Cruinniú na nÓg 2024, John & Rachel will work with the pupils from St. Michael’s National School, in Newtown, Co. Carlow. The children will actively engage in traditional song & folklore, with a specific focus on the customs associated with the month of May, including the May Bush tradition in Co. Carlow, local sayings and traditional rhymes. With hands-on learning with professional filming and audio equipment, the children will also take a leading role in digital technology.

A special film piece created by the children of St. Michael’s National School will showcase their new work and will be premiered online as part of Cruinniú na nÓg 2024 – The National Day of Creativity for Children & Young People.

Please note that this is an ONLINE EVENT and the final film will be streamed on the Creative Ireland Carlow Facebook page at 11am on Saturday 15th June
