This one-day printmaking and zine-making workshop is an opportunity to explore creative skills and tools that can help you grow in many areas of life: curiosity, imagination, and inventive thinking. You’ll work alongside artists Aoife Barrett and Kate O’Shea to explore creative ways of thinking and using the creative process to approach all kinds of topics and interests. This workshop is being delivered via Foróige, Gort and is only available to their members. It’s designed for teens age 13 to 17.
The workshop will be divided into two sessions, each running two hours long.
The first session, taking place from 11am to 1pm, will focus on telling our stories and exploring the themes of our zines. We will look at different prompts for creative thinking and storytelling through the zine format and also discuss the construction of the zine and how to distribute it.
Session two, which will run from 3pm to 5pm, will be a chance to explore everyday household objects and recycled materials to create printed imagery for our zines. This part of the workshop is all about finding ways to print at home without the use of specialised tools and materials. The aim is to embrace our surroundings and take time to meditate, explore, and find inspiration from what is on or inside our doorstep!
All workshop participants will receive a materials pack that includes a tube of printing ink and paper samples.
