These two sean-nós dance workshops will enable local schoolchildren to learn about and participate in one of Ireland’s oldest traditional art forms. Taught by dancer and anthropologist Siobhan Butler, the workshops will include traditional dance steps and folklore, ultimately culminating in the children creating their own short, informal performance piece together.
These workshops will use traditional dance as a framework to allow the children to engage with Ireland’s heritage and culture in a fun and creative way. The workshops will also give them the confidence to create something new and build social skills as they learn to collaborate with each other.
These workshops are open to all school-age children and zero experience is necessary.
The workshops will take place from 3.00pm-4.30pm on 9 June and 10am-11.30 on 10 June in Cois Tine, Kilmovee Community Centre, Kilmovee, County Mayo.
