Storytelling for Sensory Needs with Roscommon Libraries

  • Reading

Join us for Sensory Storytime with Roscommon Libraries. This storytelling session is aimed at neuro-diverse children up to the age of 8.

It will incorporate books and movements designed for children who need support with sensory regulation. The children will be encouraged to move around and be vocal alongside the stories and activities.

The session will include ‘meaningful movement’—movements and actions that help children to focus and attend better and are intentionally linked to the activity. Children will mime the actions of the characters or make animal movements alongside the story, with sensory activities between each segment of the session.

Parents and carers will also learn how to incorporate sensory needs into their regular story time, so that reading can be enjoyable for everyone.

This 30-minute event is pre-recorded and will be available all day on Saturday, June 12th. To find out more, please see the Roscommon Libraries Facebook page.
