Street Arts at Mac Uíllíam Estate

  • Workshop

Creative Places Mac Uíllíam met with young residents who called for dance and graffiti workshop, and they listened! Creative Places Mac Uíllíam will run dance and graffiti workshops in the run-up and to celebrate Crunniú na nÓg 2024:

  • Street Dance workshop 1: 01 June, 12noon – 1pm
  • Street Dance Workshop 2: 08 June, 12noon – 1pm
  • Graffiti Workshop 1: 01 June, 1pm – 2pm
  • Graffiti Workshop 2: 08 June 1pm – 2pm

In addition, on the 15 June – ‘Cruinniú na nÓg’ the young people will have the opportunity to share what they did in the workshops with an outdoor spectacle in the Basketball Court in Mac Uíllíam Estate. Both workshops will be an introduction to street dance and graffiti art. Graffiti works created on boards during the workshops will be placed around the Basketball Court and Young DJ’s from Mac Uíllíam Estate will provide the music supported by a NOISE DJ mentor.

The young DJ’s will have an opportunity to test their new skills. Young dancers will share their dance routine from workshops. Street Arts Academy performers from local primary school ‘Scoil Aoife’ will also be invited to perform on the day.  The workshops will give young residents of Mac Uíllíam Estate the opportunity to partake in Street Arts workshops, explore dance and arts skills in a Hip Hop aesthetic and to share and celebrate their work. This will be the third year the estate has been involved in Cruinniú na nÓg.
