The Big Dig at Carlow County Museum

  • Workshop

Dig into Viking history with the School of Irish Archaeology!

Explore the Viking world through a replica Viking house and excavation site and experience a simulated archaeology dig.

This hands-on workshop gives young explorers the chance to experience what it’s like to be an archaeologist by learning how to excavate Viking remains. They’ll learn about the lives of our Viking ancestors and, as they dig through the site, participants will unearth Viking treasures and artefacts dating back 1,000 years!

The School of Irish Archaeology educational workshops offer a unique experience that will leave our future generations fascinated by our ancient ancestors and eager to learn more.

This event is free but booking is required.
