The People’s Parade

  • Workshop

Check out this fun-packed protest that aims to entertain but also drive home the message that we need to change our ways for the better!

A series of workshops in primary schools in Waterford (Newtown Junior, Christchurch and St. Declan’s) will highlight how young people might use theatre to tackle climate change. The students will create characters that draw awareness to the issues we face, with costumes and props made from single-use plastics and used wasteful objects.

The students will gather at the Theatre Royal on Saturday 10 June at 1pm and as part of the Cruinniú na nÓg celebrations and set off in full recycled costume in a giant musical parade which will promenade around the city centre and end in Waterford Cultural Quarter. There, the Cruinniú Carnival will be in full swing!

You can join the parade at any stage along the way, meet up at the Theatre Royal, catch up with the students en route, or cheer them on as they arrive in the Cultural Quarter.
