Join Aileen Lambert in a lovely song about a Robin! In the song the Robin explains what’s happening to the badger, frog and fox and how their habitats are under threat because of human activity.
Newly composed by Michael Fortune, sung to the air of ‘Beidh Aonach Amárach’ this song has a lovely chorus and is very popular with children of all ages. For ease of learning Aileen breaks the song down line by line and follows it with a sing-through complete with subtitles, so the whole family can sing along. Aileen is accompanied here by her daughter Nellie (age 10).
Aileen delivers traditional song workshops in schools with the Heritage-in-Schools Scheme and Music Generation to all ages from Junior Infants to 6th class. She is currently working along with her husband Michael Fortune on the ‘Songs for Our Children’ Project, with support from Local Authorities, Galway 2020 & the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance.
The workshop is commissioned by the Heritage Office of Kilkenny County Council to teach children in a fun and interactive way about our precious biodiversity. It’s an important message, delivered in song, in the same way that nursery rhymes & traditional songs were used in the past.
