The Science of Ice Cream Making with Anyone 4 Science

Join Wexford Libraries for this year’s Cruinniú na nÓg. 

We are presenting a Science Ice Cream Experiment with Anyone 4 Science. Using household items you will learn to make a little tasty treat. Not only will you learn to make your own ice-cream, but you will also discover how to make your own freezer to freeze the ice-cream! 

There will be lots of science facts and fun involved, for children and adults alike such as the history of Ice Cream and how it was enjoyed 2000 years ago by the Romans!

Materials needed include:

Approx. 6 ice cubes per person

Table salt – 6 teaspoons per person

A mug or plastic beaker

A small plastic bag – a sandwich bag is ideal

Approx. 30mls milk – dairy, almond, soya – whichever you prefer

Spoon of sugar

Flavours of your choice – we use drinking choc, vanilla essence, a strawberry, a slice or 2 of banana, choc chips but you can use your imagination
