The Speks are back for Cruinniú na nÓg and they’re even more spek-tacular than before!
They will present a lively show of nursery rhymes and sing-along songs set to acoustic Irish music which will have adults and kids jumping in their seats. This hand-clapping, toe-tapping, hearty-laughing show is all about life on Glasses Island—a magical island off the coast of Co. Clare where everybody wears glasses.
The Speks are delighted to introduce their musical friend Charlie Hope to an Irish audience. She is an award-winning singer-songwriter who will be joining them all the way from her home in America! Charlie and the Speks will encourage everyone to sing, scream, clap, and dance along during their performance.
The show will also features vibrant watercolour illustrations by the Speks’ artistic friend David Fortune. He is an honours graduate from the Limerick School of Art and Design and his colourful illustrations set the scene for each song, thus helping younger audience members to immerse themselves in the show.
This event will be great fun for all kids age 2 to 92!
Band members are Charlie on vocals, Ed on guitar and vocals, Tommo on bass and vocals, Rafferty on banjo and vocals, Pete on accordion and vocals, Naymon on fiddle and vocals, and Quince on flute and vocals.
This prerecorded video will be available all day on June 12th on the Clare Library YouTube channel and shared on Creative Ireland Clare Facebook page.
