A through-the-generations film project developed from a larger inter-generational research and performance project by Rachel Uí Fhaoláin with Clare County Council, Tríd na Glúnta explores the transmission of traditional song, lilting, music and stories through generations within families and communities.
In this short film piece the children and young people that Rachel has been working remotely with take centre stage and they will share what they have learned during this phase of the project. The film piece will highlight the transmission of our oral traditions through the generations, an integral part of Rachel’s ongoing work.
Rachel Uí Fhaoláin is a traditional singer, researcher and educator. All of Rachel’s collecting and composition work is shared through her work with the younger generation, an important aspect of the transmission of our song tradition, folklore and stories.
Rachel delivers traditional song programmes in schools with Heritage in Schools and is continuing to deliver traditional song workshops remotely to primary schools as part of the Heritage in Schools Virtual Pilot Programme.
This pre-recorded video will be available all day on Clare Library’s YouTube channel and shared on Creative Ireland Clare’s Facebook on 12th June.
