Since last November, Helen Barry and the children in Shanganagh Park House Shankill have been exploring, thinking, making, and creating together. With support from the staff, they have developed a series of new interactive artworks called Two More Sleeps for children from 0 – 5 years.
These artworks are included in a special exhibition Room to Explore, for 0 to 5 Year Olds which opens on 18 May in the Municipal Gallery, dlr LexIcon, Dún Laoghaire. The exhibition will be a celebration of creativity for early years children that encourages children to interact with – or simply observe – textures, materials, colours, and sound, all presented in an intimate and playful environment.
The Gallery will be open all day for children and caregivers to engage and explore! And you can join artists Helen Barry and Marian Balfe for free drop-in workshops throughout the day.
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council commissioned Barry to collaborate with children from Shanganagh Park House, Childcare Services. This opportunity is supported by dlr Children and Young People’s Services Committee and Shanganagh Park House and is funded by Creative Ireland as part of Cruinniú na nÓg 2024.
