Harp Media are proud to host a short film and screenplay competition for all transition year students across Longford, as part of this year’s Cruinniú na nÓg celebration.
The competition has two categories: Short Film Screenplay (12 page max) and Short Film (1-3 minutes), allowing young people to show off their writing and filmmaking skills.
During the first phase of the competition, the Harp Media team gave presentations in each school, focusing on the work undertaken to produce their award-winning feature film ‘Lakelands’, which won Best Irish Film at Galway Film Fleadh and Kerry Film Festival. They also shared details about the short film ‘Drifting’, which stars Paul Mescal.
These presentations and tutorials were designed to encourage students to open their minds to the possibility of pursuing a career in film. They explored film production, screenplay writing and direction, and also outlined the Irish film industry landscape and post-secondary career options.
After the presentations, the students utilized their skills and knowledge to produce their own short films and screenplays. The top entries and winners will be showcased on the Harp Media Facebook Page on 10 June, so check back to see the work that was created during this exciting, hands-on project.
