Go Fly Your Kite aims to bring STEM and creativity to children and young people and enable fun through learning, art, science, social interaction and exercise.
The Go Fly Your Kite team along with the group coordinators have developed workshops that encourage children to get out, explore and learn about their local area.
During the workshop this draft artwork or an image from our library is placed under a blank kite and traced using permanent markers.
The artwork is then removed and the participant can colour and continue to be creative on the design of their individual kites.
The workshop culminates with the participants constructing their own kites and learning where and how to fly their kites safely. The project is a unique activity that promotes artistic freedom and develops skills in construction, creative thinking and exercise.
All workshops are pre-arranged with the schools. This event will be held in St. Senan’s National School, Kilrush, Scoil Chríost Rí, Ennis, and the Homework Club, Shannon Family Resource Centre, Rineanna, Shannon, on Friday 10 June.
We will post activity from this event on Clare’s Creative Ireland Programme Facebook page on Saturday 11 June.
