Young Exhibitors First Open Exhibition ‘Nature Nurture’

  • Workshop

The Virtual Gallery for the exhibition NATURE NURTURE will be launched on The Dock Arts Centre website from Saturday 13th June to celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg 2020.

At the beginning of March this year The Dock Arts Centre sent out an open call to all young people in Leitrim and the surrounding areas to participate in a virtual exhibition titled, NATURE NURTURE. This initiative was created to encourage young people to explore their localities and to develop and use their creative ideas to reflect what they found.

Recent times and events have highlighted the universal need for us to protect and celebrate the natural environment. The exhibition NATURE NURTURE , asked young people to consider the importance of the natural world in all its forms and our relationship to it.

Young People in three age categories of 7-9, 10- 14 and 15-18 years, responded to the theme NATURE NURTURE, thinking about the beauty of our natural world, what we can do to appreciate and look after it more, what in the natural world makes you happy or amazes you, what nature offers you and your family that you think others should notice more.

This new project creates an exhibition space both, virtual and real for young artists to show their artwork in a highly regarded public gallery. Works were selected  based on artistic merit and responses to the theme.
