Ready to get creative in Connacht on 15 June?
With the whole country set to spark with performance, coding, theatre, art, music, readings, screenings and more on this free, youth-friendly day of creativity; there’s plenty of fun kicking off around the province for Cruinniú na nÓg.
Supported by RTÉ and your Local Authority, Cruinniú na nÓg celebrates and encourages children and young people to truly get hands on with culture and creativity in their local area.
In Galway City, kids aged 13+ can get theatrical creating props and helping design Westside Arts Festival’s 2019 parade from 12-3pm. In County Galway, head to the Tuam Family Centre to see a superb mixed media art showcase. A culmination of workshops guided by a local artist, the work highlights positive mental health messages from young people to young people.
Shoreline fun is on the cards for 9-12 year olds in Achill, County Mayo with a beach sandcastle sculpting event. Guided by guest sculptors teaching all the basics, a super sandcastle-making competition will then put that new knowledge to the test. 1-5pm.
Strokestown Park House and Gardens sets the scene in County Roscommon for an all-ages day of festivities. Chock full of storytelling, face painting, science and coding workshops, juggling, gymboree, an archeological dig, music, dance and theatre; the petting zoo with Mary the Goat is the icing on the cake! 11am-5pm.
In Ballymote Community Library, County Sligo, zookeepers from the National Reptile Zoo will bring their reptilian friends along for an all-ages educational talk; with plenty of opportunity to meet these unusual creatures too.
