The ‘LOL Comedy Club’ was developed by Foróige Tallaght, it consists of a group of 10 young people from the ages of 14-18 who have a talent and love for comedy. Professional comedians, Aideen McQueen & Damo Clark will provide workshops for the group of young people to build on their comedic and performance skills. The ‘LOL Comedy Club’ has been running for over 18 months and is the only comedy club for under 18’s in the county. The comedy club group is facilitated by two experienced youth workers who have a deep passion for stand-up comedy and with workshops provided by professional comedians the young people involved will gain invaluable insight into this artform. Stand-up comedy typically takes place in bars and clubs that are not accessible to those under 18 and so this group serves as a necessary pro-social activity for young people interested in pursuing their comedic talents and enjoying the art of comedy.

There will be ongoing workshops once a week for 7 weeks, then there will be a week-long intensive comedy summer programme in the lead up to the comedy show for Cruinniú na nÓg on June 15th. This will enable the young people to finalise the planning for the event and to work though and rehearse their set in collaboration with Aideen McQueen & Damo Clark who have agreed to share their knowledge and skills in joke writing in addition to performing at Cruinniú na nÓg.
