Rhyme Island Songwriting workshop

  • Workshop

This May, Rhyme Island creative tutors from the Kabin Studio, Cork will travel to Cashel to deliver a songwriting workshop with approximately fifteen 6th class and 1st year girls from the travelling community in Co. Tipperary.

This workshop is facilitated by Nuala Martin and the Tipperary Rural Traveller Project and will take place  in Cashel. The girls will be supported  to write lyrics (rap, song, poetry) and record a group song exploring their stories and to release this song for Cruinniú na nÓg on June 15th 2024. The song will be written and recorded on the workshop day, along with some video footage from the workshop to document the activity.

Tipperary Rural Traveller Project participated in this initiative in 2023 writing, singing and recording the amazing and so catchy “Yup Ya Hack available below in the link”.  We are delighted to see that they are coming back for more! We can’t wait to hear it!

3 creative tutors from the Kabin Studio in Cork;  2 specialising in rap, songwriting, music production and recording; 1 tutor who will focus on capturing video content will provide this  songwriting workshop.

We would like to thank Nuala Martin and the Tipperary Rural Traveller Project for facilitating this workshop.

The song will be made available on the Tipperary County Council Cruinniú na nÓg page and social media on the 15th June.

Photography /videography will be taken at this event.
