Share Your Songs and Stories

  • Workshop

Music will be the main focus of these workshops, and some art and story-time activities will also be included.

Based on two key words “integration” and “belonging,” the children will share songs and stories from their countries of origin as well as from their adopted country. The emphasis of the workshops will be to highlight what the children have in common, while honouring cross-cultural identities.

In partnership with the Family Resource Centre in Kenmare, the workshops will be targeted towards children who are non-nationals with a view to helping them to integrate with the local community, and to give them a sense of belonging. There are many nationalities living in Kenmare, and all are welcome to attend these workshops.

Conceived, created and facilitated by musician Maureen Sullivan, this series of creative workshops targets children from the ages of 7 to 10 years of age.

On 15th June, the official day of Cruinniú na nÓg, parents will be invited to come to an open workshop where the children will have the opportunity to perform songs and showcase their art. Interested members of the public will also be welcome to attend on that particular day from 10am to 12pm.
